Are YOU Living Your Dream?

Hello to all new followers - check out the previous post for a podcast about being listed as a Blog of Note. So thrilled! I'd love to get to know you a bit better, so I wonder if you'd answer this question:

Are YOU living your dream?

If not, what are you waiting for? The time will never be just right. What is your dream? Can you take steps towards it in your spare time? What can you do to make it come true?

Dreaming is one thing, but if you want to live that dream, you need to wake up and take some action. I always dreamed of being a writer. My first novel - video above - will be published later this year. The poetry anthology below was published earlier this year. I've turned down traditional publishing in favour of being an authorpreneur - which is hard, but suits me better. What are you doing to reach your dreams?

Tell me what you have planned!

Hear me read the poem I wrote for
this anthology here

  1. cool blog. i saw it because it's a "blog of note." nice

  2. Congrats on becoming a Blog of Note! I'm glad you did, because it's how I found this blog. I recently quit a cozy office job to travel around the country and volunteer at organic farms... that's how I woke up and took action for my dream. Best of luck to you!

  3. I'm happy to say that I am living my dream. Took a psychotic operations manager to get me finally realize that I shouldn't allow myself to wait to live my dream. So, I quit and am now writing full time. :-)

  4. Hi Mike - Thanks. :) V happy about the Blog of Note thing. Big surprise!

Hi Martini - That's amazing! I've had to do a bit of research into that area for one of the novels in this series. I might need to pick your brains at some point!

Hi Kate - What a great story. Isn't it funny how sometimes the worst people/situations lead us to something better? Well done for living your dream. :)

Hi blessingsgoddess - with an ID like that, I'm sure you will in time. :)

  5. So cool!I like your blog!

  6. Thanks to Blog of Note, I came across your blog. I, too, have always dreamed of being a writer. I started working on my book about three years ago, and now have two partially written novels (but none completely written). The inspiration comes and goes. Lately my muse has been MIA as well!

  7. boxset4less1 - Thank you. :)

approachingdirtythirty - Most writers have a bunch of part-finished novels kicking about in boxes and drawers. The trick is to finish them. I'm starting a community for aspiring authors next year, which I'll announce on this blog, so keep checking back.

TOP TIP: Never wait for the muse. The muse shows up when she can see you committing to your writing. Open a Word Doc and tap on keys for no less than an hour a day. Write nonsense. She'll show up. You might find NaNoWriMo helpful (google it) if your big block is finishing a novel. You write the first draft of a whole novel in one month. Give it a go. :)

  8. hi just saw your blog on the blog of note lists. goodjob to you dear! i'm not living the life i've always dreamed of but someday one day, hopefully not too far away I will too. And you're right I should take action to make things happen. I like the feel of your blog and I think your reviews on almost everything are informative and really helpful, every bit of a blog of note indeed. anyway before i get too carried away, just wanna say I'm a follower now. will put your url on my favorites. :)

  9. What a delightful comment. Thanks, Maria. :)

  10. Hi, I find it funny that I should stumble upon this blog today. I'm a struggling novelist and I decided to put my chapters online through blogger. I hadn't heard from any publishers and it's so hard trying to make it in this industry without an agent. I have finished my first novel quickly and am half way through the second. It's been my dream ever since I was a little girl and I almost gave it up for good over the last few days.

Than I stumbled upon your blog and asked myself the same questions. I think if I keep working hard I'll reach my dream. Thanks for writing this blog post. If this is my dream, why shouldn't I go for it?

I just wanted to tell you thank you. I think I had lost sight of it until I stumbled on your blog. Thank you for writing it.

  11. E.C.Hinrichs - Thanks for the comment. That's wonderful to hear. Next year, I plan to bring out a bunch of resources for people just like you. I'll make an announcement on this blog, so keep an eye on it.

    Keep writing! :)

I appreciate your comments. :)
